Festival Solo Auditions

This year, in preparation for the 17th Annual HaZamir Festival and Gala Concert, we are introducing a new procedure for solo auditions. Anyone who wants to audition for a solo must submit a CD or mp3. We will decide who qualifies for a call back audition based on those mp3s or CDs. No one will be permitted to audition at Festival unless he or she submits audition materials and receives a call back notice for a second audition. This will save us a lot of time at Festival.

The following pieces have solos opportunities:

Cuando El Rey Nimrod - measures 2-14, 20-28, 32-35, 46-51, 54-58
L' Dor Vador - measures 4-30, 40-58
La Y'hudim – measures 1-17, 29-59, 68-76, 87-95, 99-126
Ya Ribon - measures 4-14, 30-48, 67-80

All audition materials must be in the National HaZamir Office by Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Make sure you say your name and chapter on your mp3 or CD and include your e-mail address with your materials. Any audition that arrives after Feb 23 will not be considered.

About HaZamir

HaZamir Cleveland @ Akiva is a chapter of the International Jewish High School network of choirs that was created by Matthew Lazar to provide Jewish teens with a high level choral experience in a Jewish environment. Choir chapters are located across the US, Canada, London, Madrid and Israel. Each chapter meets weekly to rehearse Jewish choral music and learn the same body of music so that all chapters can joins together at the annual HaZamir Festival. This unique experience helps build a lifelong commitment to Jewish culture and music. HaZamir Cleveland at Akiva is open to all Jewish students in grades 8 to 12 who have an interest in Jewish music.
